Veenew (“Veenew”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a proximity-based social app that lets you send and receive short messages called pings from people nearby.
We keep our data collection limited to what is needed to provide and improve Veenew.
When you create an account, we collect:
When you post a ping, we also store the approximate location where the ping was posted. This location is used to determine which nearby users can see the ping.
Veenew uses your device's location to find pings near you. Location coordinates associated with a ping are stored only for as long as the ping exists.
Pings and their associated location data are automatically deleted after 7 days.
We use the OpenAI Moderation API to help detect and prevent harmful or inappropriate content.
Only the anonymous text of a ping is sent to OpenAI for moderation. We do not send your Veenew user ID or your location with the moderation request.
OpenAI's API documentation states that data submitted through the Moderations endpoint has no application-state retention.
We use Cabin Analytics to understand how people use Veenew and to improve the app.
We use Cabin because it provides privacy-friendly, aggregated usage statistics.
You can delete your Veenew account at any time.
When you request account deletion, your account and associated data are scheduled for complete deletion from our database within 7 days.
For security and operational purposes, we may keep server access logs for up to 8 days. These logs are then deleted or automatically expire.
